September 18th, Congratulations Russ and Shawn

WEATHER
Visibility:  Clear
Wind:  10knots + from the North
Tow pilot: Russ and Shawn

Congratulations Russ and Shawn on your Commercial Glider Pilot certificates.

On the morning of September 18th Russ Etheridge and Shawn Knight finished up the several weeks of dedicated training that they have put in.  Anyone that has been at the gliderport in the last few months has seen this dynamic duo training like mad.  Alternating between towing and flying the 2-33, they provided many days of soaring to those able to jump in on their training regime.

According to Dan, both pilots were well prepared for the knowledge portion of the checkride and had done their homework for the Oral Exam.  For the flight test, the conditions had relatively strong north winds.  Higher than either had experienced in training.  An excellent test of their commercial level skills.

Dan enjoys these days with something a little different to throw in the mix.  Alternate pattern requests, "rope breaks" at unusual times and a chance to exam skills in unknown conditions.

Russ and Shawn both exhibited excellent skills and judgement.  Not only during their flight test, but also in the weeks leading up to the test, when they've continually shown a safety first attitude and willingness to change tow operations when conditions dictate.

Great job guys.
