Crew Requirements:
We always recommend bringing a crew just in case. CCSC members are often available in limited numbers for retrieves in support of the contestants. Treat them right. Aero-retrieves available from certain airports in the area. Many duster strips do not allow aero-retrieve.

Weather and Soaring Conditions
Avenal is located on the west side of the San Joaquin Valley half way between San Francisco and Los Angeles. In May, late spring fronts can sweep through sprinkling cumulus clouds throughout the central valley for flatland type tasks over the orchards and farmlands. Alternately a strong convergence can form over the mountains between the warm central valley air and the marine air to the west. With a mix of flatland, convergence and mountain flying available, combined with plentiful safe landout options, it’s a great place to test yourself, learn and have a great time.
2013 produced some varied days with lot’s of challenges and some wide open racing as well. 2013 Champ Bill Gawthrop will be looking for a Threepeat performance I’m sure.
