When I got to Avenal, the winds were blowing much stronger than forecasted and there was a work crew already underway.

Several training flights were completed by Jack Knutson, Darren Council, and Peter Mersino. Jeff Richardson had two friends fly in from Santa Barbara and he took them up to see what soaring was all about. None of the private ships flew.

A ton of work was completed on the property. Trash was collected and prepped for the dump, trees were felled, brush was collected for a future bonfire, golf carts were resurrected, and everything just generally cleaned up. We had a nice time enjoying hamburgers for lunch on the patio mid-day.

Thanks to everyone who came out to help - it looks great and just in time for the spring contest! On that note, we are a few registrants shy of making it worth hosting. So, if you want to fly, or know somebody interested, please sign up on the SSA site now.
